Memo to Limb Buds - 29 weeks (prenatal)

We made it to the third trimester. Eleven more weeks to go. Today you are 29 weeks and you are getting bigger and stronger every day. You're mixing up your movements now. Instead of just kicking and punching, you are now doing 'the wave' inside my stomach. It still freaks your dad out. You seem to always be awake...just like your dad...but that's fine. It reassures me that you're still doing well in there...and I can sleep through anything. You're about 2 1/2 pounds now and a little over 15 inches long from head to foot. You're still fairly small but all the extra weight in my belly is really doing a number on my legs. I can't stand for long amounts of time (ie. more than 5 minutes) without my legs getting weak and I get shortness of breath super easily. My weight is up to 132 pounds which is quickly approaching your dads 136-139 pounds.

Your movements...

Pay no attention to the unmade bed. You still have to make your bed if I tell you to...because I said so.

Gracie Bamberger...You're 3 years old today!

Happy birthday!
These are some of the things that we love about you...
-You're so well behaved.
-You're very patient when we eat dinner. You don't try to jump on us or get in our food. You sit patiently next to us because your favorite thing to do is lick my hand after I've finished eating (whether I've used a fork or not).
-You have never tried to destroy anything in the house. When you stay home alone, you don't touch a thing...not even your toys.
-Your 'moves' when I come home...

-Your 'moves' when Nate comes home, which is frantically chewing your bone.
-You think dental teeth foam is a treat.
-You love your poultry flavored toothpaste.
-You love your Heartguard.
-The way you do your 'kicks' after you've gone poopie.
-How you can't maneuver the turn before the stairs...your weenie bod is not that long.

-The way you do your 'swim moves' during your baths...

-Your American Idol audition...

-You never give up...

-How you hate dressing up but you do it anyway to amuse me...

-Your long weenie bod...

-Your nut bagginess.

Happy birthday, Gracie!

Burn baby, burn!

Last Saturday, as we were driving back from dinner in Albany, we noticed red caution tape around Nate's old apartment building that he lived in for 7 years...yes, 7 years. Who lives in the same apartment for 7 years? The same guy who just threw away 10 years worth of phone and electric bills that he had been filing away (because I finally convinced him that how much he paid for a land line in 1999 is not valuable enough information to hold on to for a decade). This is where Gracie gets her nut bagginess from. Anyway, so we got out of the car and looked around to see what had happened...not noticing the fire damage since it was dark. Apparently, a fire started Saturday morning in the apartment right next to the one that used to be Nate's and rapidly spread to more of the building. Firefighters even had to break a hole in to the side of the building to get people out. Super scary. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher in your house and you know how to use it...P.A.S.S. And while you're at it, you might want to get your earthquake kit together and get some potassium iodide tablets from the pharmacy!

What lies beneath!

Michelle Pfeiffer?

Today Nate noticed that one of the bathroom sinks was draining slow so he decided to plunge it. It worked so well that he also decided to plunge the shower sink. Little did he know it would open up a can of worms...and a giant hair monster...and a rusty nail.

Uh...this is what he was able to get out of the drain.

Notice the rust nail (courtesy of Pulte Homes)

Surprisingly...the shower had been draining fine even with this hair monster growing in the pipe for so long. However, after this was taken out and he kept plunging away it completely stopped up. Could there be another giant hair monster lodged way down there now so nothing could pass? I said no way and blamed it on Pulte and the fact that they had probably dropped 20 more nails down there while building the house. Nothing else could be powerful enough to block the pipe. So we drove to Home Depot and bought a drain snake. It didn't help. What the deuce. We decided to give up and call a 24/7 plumber...whose voicemail said they would be closed on Saturday and reopen at 9am on Sunday. Mmmmkay...what part of 24/7 are they not understanding? We were resigned to the fact that we would have to wait until Sunday to get the pipe unclogged and were debating on whether or not we should try Drano. I thought we should give it a try but didn't really think it would be able to disintegrate all the nails in the pipe. Nate thought we shouldn't try it because it might burn the skin of the plumber when he was trying to fix it the next day. Forget that, plumbers should have gloves. And if they don't think someone's going to try Drano before they call a $400 plumber, they deserve to get their skin burned off, right? So we bought the $6 Drano (which by the way has a money back guarantee if it doesn't unclog the drain...bonus). We let it sit for 30 minutes and voila...we were both shocked...the pipe completely unclogged. So it wasn't a whole bunch of rusty nails after all? It was my giant hair monster spawn that Nate plunged so deep down the pipe and so perfectly lodged it in there that no water was able to pass by. Drano prevails! Although I am sad that we never got to see the giant Gracie-sized ball of hair that was living in that pipe.

This made it all worth it. We don't need a plumber. We already have buttcrack up in here!

Memo to Limb Buds - 24 weeks (prenatal)

I'm super tolerant of the glucose. I took my glucose tolerance test yesterday and passed. Yay...no gestational diabetes for me. However, I am slightly anemic so I'm starting ferrous sulfate 325mg 1 tab po qd. That's pharmacist talk...I'll teach you early and your dad can teach you C++ (??). You'll be the smartest kid in Gymboree. Today at the doctor I weighed in at 2 pounds heavier than my last visit 4 weeks ago. I think the doctor was pleased that I didn't gain 8 pounds since the previous visit like the last time! Ooops...I was just trying not to starve you. The doctor said she would give me a 'kick counter' log to keep track of your kicks but she forgot. That's ok...because there's an app for that! I need to count your movements once a day and you should move 10 times in less than 2 hours. Using my Baby Kick Counter, you kicked me 10 times in 1:50 minutes....and you're still going strong. You're an over-achiever already.

My glucose tolerance test...mmmmlicious.

"I think I hear Limb Buds."

Hot dogs are delicious!

Mighty dog!

Snoogle-licious

Since I can't sleep on my stomach anymore, I'm enjoying my new discovery...the Snoogle. The best pillow ever. And...Gracie thinks it's the perfect place for a good bone chew.
